Ministry Amid a Pandemic
The Gospel is Spreading Despite COVID-19
The word pandemic is scary. It means a global outbreak that occurs when a new disease emerges. Because the disease is so new, there’s no immunity, meaning it spreads, and fast. When we keep our eyes on the problem, we can become overwhelmed and full of fear by what the news and media are feeding us. But when we keep our eyes on the Father, then we can see things in clear perspective and embrace an attitude of faith. Now, more than ever, is a time for Christians to show their faith and the peace that comes from knowing Jesus and being one of His followers.
The world is saying a powerful pandemic is causing global chaos, but what’s even more powerful is the Gospel.
We’re getting reports from staff and partners around the world of Project Philip Bible studies, trainings, church services, and evangelism still happening, despite the pandemic. Believers are finding new ways to worship and share the Gospel while respecting government restrictions.
In Africa, ministry is still happening in some countries. Our partners in Zimbabwe, Project Philip Bible study groups are partnering with the government healthcare workers to minister to people in remote areas while teaching them about the risks of COVID-19. Not only is the Project Philip program on-going, but the healthcare workers are also hearing the Gospel message.
Across East Asia, believers are holding online Bible studies to continue ministry. Churches in urban areas of Malaysia have moved to online services, and believers in Indonesia are utilising the WhatsApp messaging platform for Project Philip Bible studies.
In Muslim-dominated Albania, two new Project Philip Bible studies were just started recently. People are searching for hope amid this crisis. Pray that God would make a way for people to continue to meet and share the Gospel.
Let’s all join together in prayer and praise to the One who is in control. The Lord is sovereign over this situation and He continues to work. He promises to use all things for the good of those who love Him, even a global pandemic.
Will you help plant more Bibles at this crucial time in our ministry?
Call to Prayer: Pray for each of our partners and volunteers, that as they continue to minister to people through this pandemic, they will see a great Kingdom harvest!
The ministry of Bible League New Zealand is able to plant God’s Word solely through the generous support of the Christian community.
