Edward is a primary school teacher living in northern Tanzania, where he also leads children’s Bible study groups in his local church. Every week, more than 130 children gather to sing, learn from Scripture, and discover the love of God through Bible League’s Project Philip Children’s program.
But Edward’s own childhood was very different.
Growing up as an orphan, he remembers feeling surrounded by fear, loneliness, and hopelessness. “I lived in darkness, full of worries and fear,” Edward shared. Everything changed when a friend from school told him about God’s Word. Through hearing about Jesus, Edward says he found “light, joy, and hope.”
Today, Edward is passionate about helping children experience that same hope. Using Bible League Bible study materials, he teaches children that they are loved by God and never forgotten by Him.
“The Project Philip program gives hope to those who have lost it, love to those consumed by hatred, and light to hearts filled with darkness,” Edward explained.
In rural areas of Tanzania, many families still practise ancestor worship and some communities remain resistant to Christianity. Yet Edward continues faithfully sharing the Gospel with children and families, believing God can transform lives just as He transformed his own.
Through local believers like Edward, children across Tanzania are discovering that no matter their circumstances, they can become children of God through Jesus Christ.
