In the remote region of Nariño in southern Colombia, where steep, narrow roads wind through mountains and heavy rains often cut communities off from the outside world, life is not easy. The area is controlled by the ELN (National Liberation Army - armed guerrilla group), and daily life is marked by uncertainty and hardship.

It is here that Sonia, a 40-year-old mother, has built a life of resilience and purpose.
With sunburned skin and hands shaped by years of hard work, Sonia reflects the strength of a rural woman determined to provide for her family. But behind that strength was once a deep sense of loneliness and despair.
“At times, I even considered ending it all,” she admits.
Before becoming a mother, Sonia felt lost and without direction. But everything began to change when she encountered God through Bible League Bible studies led by Pastor Checa.
“The Holy Spirit brought peace and hope to my heart,” she says, her face now filled with joy.
Sonia’s journey has not been without hardship. She experienced a difficult relationship with a man from the ELN and became a mother in the midst of challenging circumstances. Yet through it all, God was at work.
“Becoming a mother was the greatest gift, but it was my reconciliation with Christ that truly transformed my life,” Sonia says.
Today, Sonia’s home has become a place of hope.
She now leads Bible studies for women and children in her community—creating a safe space where people can encounter God’s Word and experience His love.

“It’s a place of peace,” she explains, “where women and children not only learn about Christ but experience His love.”
Though the group is small and attendance can change, Sonia remains faithful to the calling God has placed on her life.
“Sometimes people leave, but others arrive. And that’s beautiful—just like this land, the seed keeps bearing fruit.”
In a region marked by hardship and isolation, Sonia’s story is a powerful reminder that God is still at work—bringing reconciliation, restoring hope, and transforming lives through His Word.
Through your support, people like Sonia are able to access God’s Word and share it with others in even the most remote and challenging places. Today, you can help bring this same hope to more communities across Colombia—equipping local believers, reaching women and children, and planting seeds of faith that will continue to grow. Will you prayerfully consider giving to place God’s Word into the hands of those who need it most?
