In Colombia’s overcrowded prisons, space is limited and security is tight. Bible studies often take place during short recreation periods, gathered in busy courtyards filled with noise and tension. It’s not the setting you might expect for quiet reflection or spiritual growth.
And yet, even here, something remarkable is happening.
“Even with the limitations, these study times become spaces of peace, reflection, and hope,” shares Danilo García, Bible League’s National Director in Colombia. “Many inmates find for the first time the opportunity to hear the Gospel message and begin a process of transformation that they rarely experience anywhere else.”
In the midst of difficult conditions, God’s Word is bringing calm where there is chaos, and hope where there is hardship.
One life transformed is Rodrigo Castro.

While in prison, Rodrigo encountered Christ through Bible League study materials. What began as a simple opportunity to join a Bible study became the turning point in his life. As he grew in faith, his perspective began to change—bringing purpose where there had once been uncertainty.
But Rodrigo’s story didn’t end when he walked out of prison.
After his release, he felt a deep desire to share the hope he had found. He began with those closest to him—his family and community. A local pastor soon noticed Rodrigo’s passion and encouraged him to take the next step: joining Bible League’s Church Planter Training.
Today, Rodrigo is leading a new church in southern Bogotá.
Even more remarkably, he regularly returns to Bogotá’s Modelo Prison—the very place where his life was transformed. There, he now shares the Gospel and disciples inmates using the same Bible study materials that once reached him.
“The vision is clear,” says Danilo García. “To lead prisoners to Christ, accompany them in their spiritual growth, and support them as they reintegrate into their communities and the Church.”
This is more than a prison ministry. It’s a pathway to lasting transformation.
Through faithful support, lives are being changed from the inside out. Men and women are encountering Christ, growing in their faith, and returning to their families and communities with a renewed purpose—living as powerful witnesses of God’s redeeming grace.
And it all begins, sometimes, in a crowded prison courtyard.
This life-changing work is only possible through the support of people like you. By partnering with Bible League in Colombia, you are helping place God’s Word into the hands of prisoners, equip local believers to disciple others, and raise up leaders like Rodrigo who are transforming their communities. Your support brings hope where it’s needed most—inside prison walls and far beyond.
